Corrections policy

We would rather be corrected than wrong. Here is how to tell us, and how we handle it.

Last updated:

How to report an error

Use our contact form and choose “A correction or outdated fact”, or email hello@homeenergyguidehub.com. Please include the page address, the sentence you think is wrong and, if possible, a link to an official source.

What happens next

  1. We acknowledge correction reports, usually within 3 business days.
  2. A team member who did not write the original text checks the claim against primary sources.
  3. If we were wrong or out of date, we fix the page and update its “last updated” date.
  4. For significant errors, we add an entry to the log below.

What counts as significant

A significant error is one that could change a reader’s decision: a wrong eligibility rule, deadline, credit or rebate amount, a wrong formula in a calculator, or a safety statement. Fixes to typos, broken links or wording that does not change meaning are made without a log entry.

Updates versus corrections

When a law or program changes after we published, that is an update, not a correction. We update the guide and its date. When we made a mistake, we call it a correction.

Corrections log

No corrections have been logged since launch on October 18, 2026. Significant corrections will be listed here with the date, the page and what changed.
